Low-Density Polyethylene (LDPE) is a semi-rigid, translucent thermoplastic characterized by its highly branched polymer chains, resulting in lower crystallinity (40-50%) and density (0.910–0.925 g/cm³). Produced via high-pressure free radical polymerization, LDPE exhibits outstanding flexibility (Young's modulus 0.1–0.3 GPa) and chemical resistance to acids/bases. Its key advantages include:

Excellent moisture barrier properties (0.005 g·mm/m²·day) for food packaging
FDA-compliance for medical/pharmaceutical applications
